Hello Brian, First I wanted to say that I am sorry about this erroneous first
post, but I have also been having issues causing my browsers (yes both sides
of that fence fail) to crash from C++Runtime library errors, likely stemming
from AVG technologies (as was associated in Add/Remove programs' population
pane) whose support could not be worse, of course this was when the last
crash occurred, immediately after removing AVG.
BTW any changes made concerning AVG, has consistently coincided with a whole
plethora of errors, throughout it's use and disuse, stemming from the initial
install in September, (on my old machine) thinking initially, it was the
heavy load on my single core 3.06Ghz processor in my old machine, so after
stepping up to this new comparative rocket of a machine, still the problems
follow, and has caused my reply to only contain the post I was more or less
hijacking this thread by, because I cannot see any other means to join this
thread for having this same problem.
So I am replying to this post because I saw no other option to post
initially, maybe because I had not been verified yet, but also because this
is the most recent in this thread.
I am working with a brand new Intel Quad core, Q9400 with 4Gb ram, and a
pair of WD SATA's summing storage up at 1.2 Tb. with a 1Gb 128 bit HIS
graphics card, in a PCI Express 2.0 slot in an Asus P5Q pro turbo Motherboard
with an Intel P45 chip set
Now my issue differs from most here in as much as I HAD images coming in
until three days ago, (was quite surprised at the default settings, rather
annoying a this point of the game) and I did nothing to change my settings. I
have been troubleshooting this for three days now, pretty much doing nothing
much BUT looking for a solution.
I have pored over these posts and tried each of and combinations of the
remedies others have offered as well as reading through the mos relevant help
pages linked in this thread, to no avail.
I do not know what exactly has changed, except that I am continuing to
install my software packages, as well as migrating some programs from my old
computer via windows 7 easy transfer utility, which managed to carry over
many settings to my newly installed programs. So rather than migrating
programs, I only migrated their settings, but Outlook mail's was a manual
import of the saved Outlook Express 6.x address book which was converted from
a .wab to .wac? Windows contacts, and then converted in to the current
address book file format. This is assumed because they now open as choices
when I click the address field, or any of the address input buttons.
To sum it up I have made sure the block content box is unchecked, I tried
the registry change and also found two other references to content, pictures,
and content that were at the no value, if 1 is yes and 0 is no, which I
surmised based on other entries I noticed matching other settings i know the
values of.
I completely removed AVG, as it has been worse than any virus could be for
the months of computing nightmares I have been having with the afore
mentioned errors crashing all browsers and Adobe graphic programs, even on
this brand new build, however i did use the windows seven Ultimate 64 easy
transfer utility for migrating some settings and programs over, and this
didn't occur until I was on my own little network with the old computer.
Please help me to view pictures in emails again, I have to agree with the
number of people getting tired of MS "Protecting" me from falsities, meant
for neurotic paranoid newbies that will be easily duped in to believing
almost anything written, be it in a newspaper or on the web.
I would not be at all surprised if most of the annoyance viruses stem from
the anti-virus programmers to keep their paychecks coming in, exceptions of
course for those truly malicious codes, usually meant to target a single
entity, and not the general users of the web and of course who could blame
any software publishers for posting Mal-ware ridden versions of their top
pirated software on Torrent sites, in order to deter most from taking chances
with what they down load, not at all being what it may be labeled as being.
Although I agree many packages are price gouged at their release, who
really needs the most current anything, that has been so useful for numerous
years, to not just buy those on a clearance rack after a newer release comes
out, for instance now is the time to buy the Adobe CS3, with CS$ released
some months ago, you are likely to find it much less expensive and as
proficient since it was new when IT came out...so relative time is the only
difference.
Sorry; I DO wander sometimes, ADD/ADHD will do that LOL!
I will download this Anti-virus MS is finally offering for free, Kudos to
that decision, what company can better integrate such intimate software with
the operating system than those that designed it?

this error?
I can't claim to get the huge numbers of graphics based mail as some others,
but will say that over 85% of the emails I DO get, have images in them, but
only .CSS seems to come through, and there, only provided it isn't
referencing a 'background-image:url(http://www.you know
where.com/image.gif);'.
I am at a loss at this point, I will add that I had used a free registry
cleaner prior to this happening, but it allows for full backups to be made
and when restoring it, despite knowing the 169 entires were invalid, useless
keys, provided no results, so I allowed removal a second time, it was worth
the shot.
Since this is a brand new build, I have spent more than a week installing,
or rather, reinstalling allot of the after-market programs I use regularly,
so doing system restore is being reserved for a last ditch effort, since I
cannot afford to lose another week installing them all again. (I design and
build websites as a side line hence the heavy duty programs installs).
If there is any other information that would be more helpful than what I
have included in this post, please request it, I have clicked the
notification box, and will respond ASAP

Well, there are enough good free AV apps that it doesn't matter that one won't
work to your liking. I use AVG on one machine and Alwil's Avast! on another.

Do you see the Infobar at the top of the message stating that Outlook blocked
the images? if not, then it's not an Outlook issue. Outlook cannot show
images inline when sent with Plain Text messages. It will show them inline
for Rich Text and HTML if they are embedded. If they're include as URLs, then
Outlook may block them, but it will tell you so and you can add the sender to
your Safe Sender list if you want Outlook to show you the images.

The problem is that either in the outlook preview pane or in the email
itself, we cannot view images. Even if we right click on them, they still
won't appear.
I had nortons 2010 installed but uninstalled it, still the problem persists.
Any help would be appreciated.

The problem is that outlook is no longer displaying pictures, even when you
ask it to. I have a vista comp with outlook 2007. I also had nortons, but have
uninstalled it for now. Still the problem persists. Even when I right click
on the red X to download the pictures it just redisplay's some microsoft
picture icon, but no picture. If i forward this email to my gmail, and read
it online with google, then the pictures appear without issue. Come on
microsoft, what's going on?

Everyone else can see them using other products but Outlook users can't. I

Outlook will not allow this. You can buy something that will help, though.
