Paul,

The answer given to Maureen is the answer I would give to you. Have you
tried uploading the index_files folder?

Dear David

I spoke to web host provider-They said I was on my own with microsoft
publisher.

I can see the index_file folder on my c drive but host website will not
allow me to uplaod folder

I have created a directory titled index_files and uploaded images one by one
but again no joy.

Starting to believe that it is not possible although i know it is.

Kind regards

Paul,

You just didn't ask the correct question of your web host provider. The
question is where to upload the index.htm file and the supporting folder
"index_files"....don't even mention Publisher, as that is irrelevant but
freaks out the folks at ISPs. And the answer is you upload the folder to the
same root directory that you uploaded your index.htm file. How? You upload
the folder the same way you uploaded the index.htm file.

Review the reference I gave before, and especially the troubleshooting
article on uploading:
http://msmvps.com/blogs/dbartosik/archive/category/1921.aspx

Then review your web host instructions for uploading. They almost always
send you instructions, and have good instructions on their site, perhaps
under FAQs.

If you are using a form on your site, then you will have to use HTTP
uploading protocol. If you aren't using a form then using a third party FTP
program might be easier for you. Filezilla is a free FTP program that gets
good marks:
http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/

Once you figure it out, you will see that it is not only possible, but also
fairly painless.

Hi Paul,

I'm not sure I'm the best one to answer this question...I'm no expert!
However I did overcome my problems with uploading, with a great deal of help
from DavidF, so take his advice.
You must upload both your index_files and your index.htm file to your
directory, then your text and all your pictures should show. I had a problem
finding where my directory was, as I understand it, it is just a "forward
slash" i.e. / so once I had the directory sorted and discovered where to
upload the files using FTP, it all fell into place.
I know alot of people don't rate Publisher for creating a website and most
hosting companies don't like it, but I find it easy to use. It does
everything I want it to do, so.....works for me!
It wasn't actually Publisher that I had a problem with, the problem was
with my hosting company, who were not very helpful and did not supply very
good instructions. In spite of that I got there in the end and now find it
very easy to re-publish....so don't give up.
Don't know if this helps. Best of luck.

David, hope you can help me. I have partially completed my Web Site in
Microsoft Publisher 2007, designed checked it, viewed how it would look on
line and then when I upload to Publish To the Web, the files are distorted,
some info shows, some doesnit, I have no idea what to do and when it asks
that some items are not where they should be I eaither have to type yes or no
and if yes, then the whole thing is crazy. Do you know what I am doing
wrong. CarmaF

CarmaF,

I will be glad to help you, but I need a better description of what is
wrong.

Please explain in more detail what you mean when you say that "the files are
distorted, some info shows, some doesnit".

Please explain in more detail about it asking your about items not where
they should be....etc. I have never known a dialog to come up during the
Publish to the Web process asking yes or no questions.

Please provide a link to your website.

Are you using Windows XP or Vista?
