Office 2003 Upgrade error 1406

T

TerryGH

Returning to the banner topic re Office 2003 - the last time I ran Registry
Mechanic over the weekend the 32 errors are no longer being reported and
Office 2003 continues to work ok, but oddly Excel nor Word show up in the
start menu as recently/actively used programs. Is this an issue related to
the registry errors from before?

And since Norton Systemworks still continues to report the registry errors,
should I still be concerned?

Thanks

hi Terry,

Basically, MS's advice on the use of 3rd party 'registry fixit' tools is don't, and if you do, at your own risk.

The MS Installer has some strange things it does in the registry and there can be some additional special treatments being done in
the beta that a registry cleaner may not understand and you end up with a hacked up registry in some cases.

If it installed okay, and you can complete the Office diagnostics and/or a repair/reinstall you should generally be okay.

I had the same problem but it was because my SpySweeper program was blocking
the registration keys for internet explorer. I turned my SpySweeper off and
clicked 'retry' and it installed no problem.
