Unable to access registry key during 07 beta installation

Alright, I tried going into my registry and giving the .tif key folder all
the permissions for all of the groups/users I could think of (SYSTEM, Owner,
Administrator, Creator Owner). This actually got the installer past the key
in question, but then upon another installation attempt it had the same error
at a .tiff key. How can I avoid having to go to each key it stumbles at
(which takes a good 20 minutes to find out and roll back) and adding all of
those permissions? At the very least, which of those users do I actually have
to give permissions to? There must be a better way...

Hi Kombucha,

Did you shut down Defender and the other apps you mentioned?

Are you running as Administrator when performing setup?

Did you look at the log files
(Start=>Run and type %temp% {enter key} )
that are named Setup.exe(nnnnnnnn.log) [check the most recent one for any specifics on wht is failing (error) other than a specific
key.

Hi

Probably you could give this step a try before you try installing Office.
This should disable all 3rd party programs.

Hope it works.

Thanks,

Thanks for all the help, but I managed to solve this myself by taking the
error message completely literally. I went into the registry, found the key
in question, went to its permissions dialogue and gave full access to every
user group I could think of (SYSTEM, Administrator, Creator Owner, Owner). I
ran the installer again and it got past .tif, then repeated the process for
..tiff, and then it installed smoothly...

whoops, I realized I had already posted most of this solution. Sorry about
that, but again, thanks for the help... fortunately there were only two
troublesome keys, and why they had such limited permissions to begin with is
beyond me (I'm pointing fingers at Adobe, but who knows?)
