Office 2007 activation

David R. Norton MVP

hmm... did a search for this file on my computer.
does not exist.
now what?

I wish I knew. I tried the beta some weeks ago and had no problem
activating it but couldn't continue to use it as I need an older
version for compatibility at work so it's long gone....

Keep reading this group, it's possible someone will come up with a
successful means of activation.

You are NOT a beta tester, your posting in this newsgroup proves it.
Beta testers have their own private newsgroup to discuss issues and
formal procedures for reporting problems.
Running a beta program does not make you a beta tester.

As for activation, try this as posted by "Jacques Trépanier"
===============================================================
Try deleting the file:

%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\application data\Office Genuin
Advantage\data\data.dat

And do the validation process again. It worked for us!
=================================================================

Hope this works for you, good luck!

Thanks David! This worked great. The only thing was, the file (on m
machine) was not quite in the same place. I had to go to C:\Document
and Settings\All Users\Application Data\*Windows Genuin
Advantage*\data and the file was there and once deleted, activatio
worked! I did not try the KB article fix, but don't need to no
either.

Thanks David! This worked great. The only thing was, the file

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\*Windows
Genuine Advantage*\data and the file was there and once deleted,
activation worked!

I'm delighted. I should have mentioned that you should use the search
function to find the file, I forgot the awful time I had last year
trying to solve a problem that required me to delete a file which just
WAS NOT WHERE THEY SAID IT WAS! I've no idea why but I finally
searched Drive C: for the file and, like you, found it under Documents
and Settings.

Thanks for the response, you've reminded me in the future to suggest
people search for files if they don't find them in the location
mentioned.
