Office 2007 beta 2 Setup Error

THanks Nathan. Yes, the TEMP folder thing seemed odd to me too.

Update.

I moved the installation files to the desktop instead of F: where I'd
downloaded them. When I ran the program again it came back with the
same error, but this time it specified the file missing BRANDING.XML
and gave me the option to ignore the error. Doing so led to a
successful installation.

Maybe this will help somebody - but it seems as if we're all getting
different solutions to this problem. Hopefully somebody cleverer than
me can find a pattern.

Thanks again for your help.

Got the same error when I tried an install with Office 2003 and 2007
Beta 1 already on my system (No I didn't RTFM!) Completely my mistake,
should of removed Beta 1 first. It did install first time, but thrashed
all the app icons/menus, basically unusable, tried to re-install, error
1706. Cause is not being able to find the installation MSI files in my
case (it does not tell you this in the normal install).

Quick fix is to do an administrative install with the /a option, this
runs thru the setup allowing you to choose what to install, then you
are given a chance to point the installation to the msi files it cannot
find when you do a normal install. After that run the administrative
install, works fine.

Hi Noel,

I'm not 100% clear on your instructions. There is no /a option on the
'setup.exe' file. I do, however, see a /admin. Is this what you are
referring to? If so, I don't see any place to reference the MSI
location.

Any help you can provide is appreciated.

Cheers!
